The most important and useful part of our body happens to be the eye. It has numerous uses, starting from enabling is to see and admire things, make us ready for things to come, and even speaks volumes about emotions that can be translated into words. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to take care of the most important organ of our body. Eyesight is the ability of our eyes to do its functions efficiently; therefore a lot of people are seen to take steps for improving their eyesight.  

Vitamins Needed To Improve Eyesight

This is a fact that with age, the vision or eyesight of a person decreases. While this gradual loss of eyesight is normal, there are ways to stay with powerful eyesight for a long time indeed. One may find some resolution in practicing eye exercises and protecting the eyes from harmful elements for keeping them healthy, there are several vitamins available in many food items that help us in improving the vision. In this article we will discuss more about the vitamins needed to improve eyesight. 

Vitamin A For Eyesight

This is also called retinal and generally the reason behind keeping the skin healthy. It also assists in the production mucous secretions needed to resist some infections. These vitamins, found naturally in animals needs to be consumed by the human body in adequate quantities to avoid diseases like night blindness, where your eyes would not be able to adapt to dim lights. Although you will have normal vision during the day, at nighttime, you would be in deep trouble. There is another problem that you might land up into if there is insufficiency of Vitamin A – Dry eyes. Dry eyes, scientifically known as Xerophthalmia causes the eye surface to become dry which makes it vulnerable to different types of infection. 

So, where do we find Vitamin A In Our Foods?

Well, plats which contains carotenes, when consumed provides us with Vitamin A. Vegetables like carrots, lettuce and cabbages have carotenes in them, and after consumption the body converts the carotene to Vitamin A. Alternatively, vitamin A is also found in eggs, fish liver oils, milk and sweet potatoes, besides green and yellow vegetables.  

Vitamin B2 For Eye Sight

Vitamin B is a family of vitamins, to be honest. One such vitamin that falls in the Vitamin B category is riboflavin or Vitamin B2. Vitamin B2 helps in the growth of healthy skin and eyes. However, deficiency of such vitamins may be harmful to eyes, as it will cause the eyes to become itchy, watery and extra sensitive to light above a specific brightness. However, it is extremely difficult not to consume Vitamin B2 as it is found in common food items like green vegetables, fish, cheese, milk, pastas and poultry. Yeast extract is known to be highly rich in Vitamin B2 content. 

Niacin  For Eyesight

The last of the vitamins to be discussed here is the niacin or more popularly known as nicotinic acid. Nicotinic acid is also a part of the Vitamin B family, as is actually the Vitamin B3. It is highly important to have Vitamin B3 in our body, as it is required for the proper growth of the body. The functioning of riboflavin or Vitamin B2 cannot happen properly without this vitamin, which makes it indispensable. This vitamin is also very easily found in most food items like dates, tomatoes, carrots and animal products like liver, milk, eggs and chicken meat.

Natural Vitamins In Our Food For Eyesight 

Therefore, one can ensure proper and improved eyesight just by consuming the necessary vitamins in adequate quantities. The three vitamins that are discussed above are found in most common foods. In fact the animal product liver happens to include all the three vitamins in it. Eyes happen to be one of the most neglected parts of the body as its importance is actually understood only in its absence. The gradual loss of eyesight is not the only problem. Sudden loss of vision has also happened to many unsuspecting people. Hence one needs to be on the safe side by having proper vitamins to improve eyesight.
