Ayurvedic Treatment for Chest pain


Chest pain is a discomfort or pain of the chest area. If the problem is related to the heart it is known as Angina Pectoris.    All chest pains do not result in a heart attack.  Generally chest pain occurs when the heart does not get enough supply of blood and oxygen.    

In Ayurveda, chest pain is known as Vaksha Vedana or Uras Vedana that is identified by tightness or pressure felt in the chest region.  Chest pain also can be a symptom of other serious ailments that are usually considered as medical emergency. It is therefore important to determine if the chest pain is cardiac in nature.


Causes and Symptoms


The pain is felt in any area between the neck and upper end of abdomen. It is a squeezing or pressing sensation in the chest. There may be a constricting sensation at the throat. Heaviness may be felt on the left arm, shoulder or elbow. The pain may spread to arms, ears, teeth, stomach and the in between the shoulder blades. The person may feel shortness of breath after exercising. In severe cases these symptoms can be found even during rest.
