The dark blemishes around the eyes are known as dark circles are also known as eye bags. Dark circles become visible and permanent with advancing age as the skin loses its collagen giving a tainted look to the skin.  It is estimated that around 90 percent of the people worldwide suffer from dark circles.  A dark circle is not a disease in itself but may be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. It becomes a matter of concern from a cosmetic point of view as it makes the person much older than his or her actual age.

1. Make a paste of a teaspoon of tomato juice, a few drops of lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a little flour. Apply this paste on the dark circles and wash off after fifteen minutes.

 

2. Make a past of powdered almond and milk under the eyes for about 15 minutes and wash off.

 

3. Apply a cold, used tea bag to your eyes. Herbal tea leaves are very effective.

 

4. To soothe tired eyes instantly and promote blood circulation in the area, apply cucumber or potato slices to your lids. Leave on for a while wash the area with cold water. This is the traditional and proven way to remove dark circles.

 

5. Another natural remedy is to drink at least 10 glasses of water. It will cleanse the body and get rid of impurities thereby lightening the dark areas.

 

6. Apply a paste made using pineapple juice and turmeric powder which is a great home remedy for dark circles.

 

 

7. A chilled spoon can be kept on the dark areas. The other way is to dip cotton balls in chilled water or rose water and keep it over the dark areas. This will soothes and refreshes the eyes.

 

8. Massaging the dark circles with almond oil for a few minutes everyday for at least 2 weeks to remove dark circles.

 

9. Avocado oil, sesame oil and vitamin E and K also work as natural moisturizers and help the skin get nourished.

 

10. Fresh fig leaves can be cut into halves and kept under the eyes for about 30 minutes. 

 

11. Drinking Tomato juice and lemon juice with a few mint leaves is an effective home remedy for getting rid of dark circles.

 

12. Include a generous amount of vitamins an in your diet that can help the skin.

 

Other Recommendations For Dark Eye Circles

 

Avoid going out in the sun frequently. Use sun glasses to protect your eyes and skin from UV Rays. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated.
